AI transparency
How we use AI
Two features here use AI. Both can be wrong, and neither is allowed to present a guess as a verified fact.
Shoe Match — recommendations
Shoe Match ranks basketball shoes using the answers you give: position, playing style, court surface, cushioning preference, budget, brand preference and US size. The ranking is a score calculated from those answers against the specifications we have actually read from a manufacturer or retailer page.
- Every result explains why it was matched, and what you might not like about it.
- No shoe is described as the "best" shoe for you. Fit is personal, and we cannot feel a shoe on your foot.
- Where a specification has not been verified, it is left blank and it does not influence the score — it is never filled in with a plausible guess.
- Change an answer and the results change. If the honest answer is that nothing in the catalog fits your constraints, the page says so instead of padding the list.
No health or injury claims
Nothing here is medical advice. ShoeMatch does not claim that any shoe prevents, treats or reduces injuries, corrects a foot condition, or improves your health or performance. If you have pain, an injury or a foot condition, speak to a qualified medical professional — not a shoe finder.
ShoeScan — identifying a shoe from photos
ShoeScan sends the photos you upload to an AI vision model and compares what it reads against our basketball catalog. Image identification can be wrong, especially with low-light photos, unusual colourways, customs, replicas or shoes not in our catalog.
- A confidence level is shown only where the result was actually cross-checked against catalog data. It is a measure of evidence, not a promise.
- If the photos do not support an identification, ShoeScan says it could not identify the shoe. It does not invent a model name to fill the gap.
- Fields it cannot read — colourway code, size, release date — stay blank rather than being estimated.
- Purchase links appear only where a published listing in our catalog matches the identified shoe exactly. Otherwise the result says a purchase link is unavailable.
Telling us the identification is wrong
If ShoeScan named the wrong shoe, tell us and a person will look at it: use the contact page and include what the shoe actually is. On a shoe page you can also use "Report incorrect information". Reports are read by a human — they never change verified catalog data on their own.
Your photos
We keep the identification result and a small thumbnail in your scan history so you can find it again; original full-size photos are not retained. You can delete any scan from your history at any time, and your photos are never published or used for anything other than identifying the shoe you asked about. See the Privacy Policy.
Check before you buy
Whatever the AI says, confirm the exact model, size, price and availability on the retailer's own page before paying. ShoeMatch is a discovery service and is not the seller — see the Terms of Service and legal disclaimer.
